Wildlife Wednesday

Wow it’s hot, hot , hot , here today at a sweltering meadow hide. Luckily i have been joined today by my wife Anne who’s occupying the co-pilots seat. I say lucky because the paddling pool was almost completely dry due to the heat. Anne was dispatched to fetch water ( it was actually Anne’s idea ) to refill the depleted paddling pool.

I think the heat also had an effect on the wildlife. It been a very slow day , all the usual small birds were in attendance together with a rather lovely Song Thrush. The rats were out in full force once again , making short work of the nuts left out for the ground feeding birds. I know that they might not be everyones favourite mammal , but they are entertaining.

It’s also great to finally get a few good images of a Great Tit. Personally for me it’s always a challenge to get a decent image of the Great Tit a i think it’s possibly because of the birds markings.

Beautiful shots as always. I love the shape of a wren. Short stocky body with a tiny tail. The Great Tit is a gorgeous bird. In the Midwest part of the US our summer was hot hot hot as well and we are expecting a cold cold winter. Thanks for sharing your beauty.
