The Hide – 100

There is only one place to begin this weeks blog and it was 80 odd miles west of here in London and the 100th birthday celebration at the Royal Albert Hall , honouring perhaps the greatest living British person ( in my humble opinion ) Sir David Frederick Attenborough an English broadcaster, natural historian, conservationist, writer, producer, and narrator. What is really amazing is that even as he passes his 100th birthday he is still working , with a new series of Blue Planet in production and still such a positive advocate for our planet earth . Happy Birthday sir David.
Closer to home here in North Wiltshire the weather has taken a turn with unsettled and intermittent rain which is causing a real problem . The paths around the meadow desperately need a good trim and that needs a couple of dry days . The result is a damp walk into the hide in the morning , even if it has been dry over night the morning dew clings on in the shade until mid morning and I hate wet trousers !
Anyway let’s get onto the feathers and furs who made an appearance today starting with the furries. Rabbits a plenty on the walk in , the usual Squirrel gang once again squabbling with the Rat pack over food ( and losing once again ) and a couple of tiny mice.
Then we have the feathers , Great tits , Blue tits , Long-tailed tits , Robins and Dunnocks. Then we have the slightly larger birds stating with the Wood Pigeon , Blackbird , Song thrush , Jay , Magpie and Jackdaw. Back to the smaller birds and they don’t come much smaller than the Wren and Goldcrest. Finishing the list we have little and large , the chaffinch and Pheasant.
Finally a quick shout out to all that follow , view and comment from Hong Kong , Singapore , Tampere ( Finland ) Lulea ( Sweden ) Yekaterinburg ( Russia ) and Brzoza Krolewska ( Poland ) thank you for your support !
Peter
