The Hide – I can’t get no sleep

Insomnia , sometimes wonderful ( i am definitely joking here ) but it’s always a great excuse to escape early in the morning to the meadow for a little wildlife photography . And that’s exactly what happened today ! So as the clock struck 6am i found myself already set up in the hide and ready to go. And i can tell you it was rather chilly in the tiny corner of North Wiltshire at that time of the morning , so cold in fact that the woolly blanket made a surprise quest appearance.
And it was worth the effort with most of the regular feathered visitors all lined up to greet me , or maybe they just wanted me to fill up the feeders. As often happens at the hide when the blanket comes out i always seem to lose a few minutes with my eyelids closed , today was no exception with a much needed 40 minute nap around 8am and then refreshed , well almost it was on with the action.
So in no particular order here’s a roll call from today . Starting with the mammals we have a couple of Rabbits , the Rat pack , a singular mouse and a couple of Grey Squirrels. Moving on to the birds , the Robin’s , Blue tit’s , Great tit’s , Dunnock , Wren , Blackbird and Blackcap. Then we have the Pheasant , Wood Pigeon , Jay , Chaffinch and Bullfinch. So all in , not a bad day relaxing , snoozing and watching wildlife.

One side note i should mention is the meadow itself , once again it is sprinting into life with growth everywhere. I consider myself as a protector of this little patch of land. Our aim has always been to let nature do its thing with the minimal interference . And this is starting to pay off. This year we have the first signs of five new trees starting to emerge from the meadow .
As ever thank you all for the wonderful support , it’s really very much appreciated so over the next few weeks i will be giving a shout out to a few places ( some of which i have had to Google ) So thank you to all you kind people from North Bergen , Santa Clara , Council Bluffs , Ashburn , Wilmington and Naperville.
