The Hide , Wednesday 2nd July 2025

It’s back to the hide after a very enjoyable short holiday down to the Devon coast to visit Miss and Lucy , a couple of rescue bears who now live at Wildwood , Spread across 40 acres of gardens and woodland in the heart of Devon is home to a fascinating array of British wildlife. From brown bears and wolves to arctic foxes and red squirrels. The bears hit the headlines last week when they escaped from their enclosure causing the park to shut down , only later to be found in the food store !

Back to the hide after, and another hot and humid day with temperatures well into the high 80s. And once again it has had an effect on the number of visitors , especially the small mammals . One rather surprising but welcome visitor today , a male Sparrow hawk , who decided to come into the pond for a drink and to cool off a little. They really are stunning birds to look at and i nearly forgot to click the shutter on the camera. Sometimes just watching is enough !

Most of the small birds made an appearance during the day , including the ever present Robins and Tit families with the Blue tits in particular here in good numbers . It has definitely been a good breeding season for these lovely little birds.
Until next time keep safe, keep cool and most importantly keep it wild !
