THE HIDE

The Hide , Saturday 4th February 2023

Today’s my first visit to the hide since our recent winter holiday to the Canadian Rockies and if I’m honest I was a little worried that the lingering jet lag might kick in ( we landed back in the U.K. on Monday ) However the chilly weather definitely kept me awake.

The day’s action was dominated by a large group of Blackbirds. There were al least twelve individuals, the most I have seen at the hide. There also seemed to be a large number of European Robins, again for a territorial bird there must have been six or seven birds. One surprise visitor was a male Gold crest , a rare visitor to the pool and a very nervous little bird. It doesn’t hang around for long and only ever visits the pond to wash and drink.
