Country Innovations Woodlark Smock

review by Peter Hanscomb

IMG_5109At long last I have managed to purchase the Woodlark smock by Country Innovation, a waterproof jacket that has been on my radar for a few months. This long awaited addition to my outdoor wardrobe evokes memories of my old Scout patrol tent , maybe it’s the colour , blended with styling that reminds me of the type of garments Scott of the Antarctic might have worn back in the early 20th century but this smock is no museum relic.

E802C628-C0E7-48BF-B89D-626C389F05B9The team at County Innovation have created a superb wind and waterproof jacket that pairs classic design and looks, quality materials and peerless attention to detail. It’s made from a tough hard wearing cotton outer fabric, Braxton aqua combined with a waterproof and breathable lining. Country Innovation claim this will offer protection from wind and rain, and so far they have been proved right. I have used the jacket in very inclement weather. Absolutely no problems with rain or wind this jacket delivers on all it’s promises.

The smock has a very generous fit. Articulated underarms , adjustable velcro cuffs , a detachable hood and large waterproof side openings make this smock very user friendly. There is plenty of room to add additional layers underneath and for ultimate warmth i used the Woodlark with a thinsulin mid layer , useful if you plan to spend a full day out in the open or sat in a bird hide. The Woodlark is also a little longer than your standard jacket helping to keep my rear end warm and cosy ! Add in a large zipped waterproof front pocket and side entry waterproof hand warmer pockets and the pictures nearly complete.

The Woodlark smock is a superb and in reality faultless jacket, the materials, design and usability make the Woodlark my new goto winter jacket. The small friendly team at Country Innovation reflect their product perfectly. Friendly, Knowledgeable and happy to help. Expect to pay around £ 245.00 for the Woodlark smock.
