THE HIDE – WOW

Wow , some times wildlife just takes your breath away and that’s definitely happened today. I’m sat as usual in the meadow hide , relaxing and enjoying watching the birds fly in and out of the ponds when movement catches my eye. From the left , behind the wood pile enters a female Reeves Muntjac. Because of the logs i can only see a small amount of her body and head. Then she stops right in front of the camera and starts to make a strange movement.

After a short while , a few minutes she slowly moves towards the surrounding hawthorn bushes and then finally i get the full picture . She is accompanied by a tiny little fawn who had been suckling on his mother. Just when i start to think it can’t get any better than this she sets the fawn down in the hawthorn bushes a wanders off a few metres to graze on the meadow grass. I don’t know if she was aware of my presence , but the little fawn definitely was . It spend the next  ten to fifteen minutes looking directly at the camera. Easily one of my top five wildlife encouters ever !

And the rest of today’s visitors didn’t disappoint either . So in no particular order we have the Rat Pack , Grey Squirrels , a couple of Hares , a Bank Vole and a few Rabbits. All the usual birds including Blue tits , Great tits , Long-tailed tits , Chaffinch , Bullfinch and Goldfinch. Then we have the Robins , Wren , Wood pigeon , Blackbird , Dunnock , Jackdaw and Pheasant. All in a fantastic day !
