A Bug’s Life
With the weather improving,( spring is on its way , well nearly ) it’s time to start phase II of the hide landscaping. First on the agenda is the creation of a couple of Bug Hotels , essentially a wooden box field with sticks , moss and straw with a few gaps to enter and exit. The first of these has been constructed in our workshop from a couple of old wooden pallets and a few pieces of scrap wood .

Once it has been transported to the hide and placed in situation we then covered three sides in soil , old branches and moss to create a mini woodland bank measuring 900mm x 900mm ( 3ft square ) and there you have it , a valuable resource for our insect population , which in turn will hopefully help the local bird life plus a good backdrop for photography.

Bug Hotels are very usefull and it’s great that you decided to build some of your own.
Also the tree stems will give place to a lot of usefull organisms.
