A picture paints a thousand words

Blog number 1000
Well ok , it’s a play on words but the picture above of Flo the fox holds a special place in my heart. It’s the picture that kickstarted my passion for the natural world and wildlife photography. It was also the very first picture posted on a new fledgling blog called Wildonline way back on the 29th May 2017.
Fast forward four years the picture still has a magic hold on me , despite the fact that some might say , technically it’s not a great image. It’s really a case of beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and the picture has now taken on a life of it’s own. It’s latest reincarnation is in the form of a “diamond art” painting , lovingly crafted by my wife Anne.
The blog that this picture inspired just over four years ago has continued to grow. And this is the 1000th blog , I guess a special milestone. Despite initial comments from a colleague of mine , Mr C who insisted the idea of a wildlife photography blog “ had no legs “ The blog has continued to develope from it’s online form and now has a presence in the real world with our new base , the Hide at the Meadow. The blog has taken me to places I couldn’t have imagined a few years . Appearances on BBC radio , and articles in the local news papers to name a few.
But by far the most enjoyable aspect of the blog that this picture of Flo the fox has given me is the many new friends made along the way . I still find it bizarre how a few words and pictures posted online can help make bonds that I hope will last a life time. And of course none of this would be possible without the love , support and understanding of my wife Anne.
So thank you Graham , Jeni , Jo , Bob , Alex , Natasha and Anne for your support and contribution to Wildonline . And if possible I think it’s definitely a bigger thank you to everyone who has taken the time to post supportive comments on the blog and via Facebook and Twitter. It’s amazing to think that the blog has been read in every continent and corner of the world.
